Current Activity
Members of the Vashon Maury Health Collaborative and volunteers are currently engaged in community outreach, leading discussion groups on the topic of Island health services and economics. We speak at community groups and gatherings to raise awareness of the current situation and the opportunities for a sustainable community health program. We also conduct “Salons”, small group meetings of friends, neighbors, book groups, etc. in which a very short presentation about current health care issues on the island are discussed, followed by time for questions and in-depth discussion on topics of interest to the group.
The VMHC is proceeding on the principle that the matter of sustainable Island health care is of such importance that Islanders are best served by having as many opportunities to become educated on the issues as possible. We are promoting knowledge rather than slogans and sound bites.
If you would like to have two of our speakers attend your group of 10 or more people to discuss these issues and answer your questions, we would be happy to do so. Please send a request for contact to this site and propose a few available dates. We will get back with you and work out the details. Thanks!
